CALL TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES

Operating Engineers are those who operate, maintain and repair heavy construction equipment to build our nation’s highways, power plants, dams and buildings.

Our training program is a joint effort of Local Union 9, the International Union of Operating Engineers, and the contractors that have agreements with the Union.  Together, we train qualified men and women to safely and efficiently handle heavy machines so the construction industry can be assured that a pool of skilled workers will be available for future construction projects.

Applicants for the apprentice training program must be at least 18 years old; High Schools Diploma or GED required; and must have a valid driver’s license and social security card.

To be accepted into the training program, qualified applicants must take the Industry Entrance Examinations which consist of tests in basic math/language skills, mechanical aptitude and one’s ability to understand and follow verbal directions.
