Crane Courses Information
No cell phone use will be permitted while in class. You will need to bring you own calculator. Members will be assigned a Study manual and a student workbook at the beginning of the first class and will be expected to have that study manual and workbook with them at every class. The study manual is property of the Colorado Journeyman and Apprentice Training Site; Failure to return the study manual in good condition prior to test day will result in the member forfeiting their opportunity to take the written test and all fees associated with. These courses are progressive, and participation is expected. Training starts at 7;00 am, class will begin immediately after the safety meeting, if you are late you will be sent home. You will need a current paid to date dues receipt to attend these crane courses. Applications to take the NCCCO Written exam are due no later than February 18, 2022.
Scheduled Crane Study Classes:
Rigging & Signal: February 27, 2022
Course Topic:
This course covers basic rigging principles (preparing the load, calculating capacities, and selecting hitches) inspection, selection and proper use of hardware, synthetic slings and chain slings with focus on factors affecting capacity. The signal portion covers requirements of a qualified signal person and the proper ways to communicate hand and voice signals.
Crane Safety: April 30, 2022
Course Topic:
This is an entry level course on the set up and operations of a mobile crane, this course has classroom and hands on exercises that cover basic crane knowledge, outrigger and jib setup.
Load Charts: May 7, 2022
Course Topic:
This course will assist them member with interpreting load charts as well as manufacture operating manuals.
TSS, TLL, LBC, LBT – Mobile
This course will be an in-depth review of the OSHA standards that govern mobile cranes and derricks used in construction as well as the ASME standards that govern Mobile and locomotive cranes. Other industry relevant OSHA and ASME standards may be covered here as well.
NCCCO Review: May 14, 2022

This course will assist the member preparing to take the NCCCO Mobile crane written examination
